Who We Are

The Learning Disabilities Association of France maintains three permanent positions on staff, with a number of additional tutors which vary in order to support demand for our tutoring program. Our friendly staff are always ready to assist in any way they can, and prepared to answer any questions you may have related to learning disabilities.

 

Executive Director - David Banfield

David has been working with the Learning Disabilities Association for the past 4 years. Originally hired as the Program Coordinator, David has held the role of Executive Director for the last 3 years. Previously he has spent 7 years teaching in a variety of settings and working with youth in a variety of capacities.  As Executive Director, David is responsible for carrying out the vision of the Board of Directors and ensuring the needs of our members are met.  

In addition, David also carries out a variety of direct to client services including (but not limited to): assistive technology assessments, professional development and advocacy services for individuals with learning disabilities and those who support them.

Office Manager - Karen Nelson

Karen Nelson is a former service industry manager with over 20 years experience. Her background in customer service and education in human resources and business management enable her to provide top quality customer service. Karen acts as the front-line liaison between our clients and the office, and allows her to manage, schedule, and oversee our fundraising and tutoring programs. 

Community Outreach Specialist - Shane Martland

Shane Martland is a former corporate facilitator with a background in information technology. His history in the customer service industry and personal experiences as an individual with learning disabilities in both the working and education world provide him unique insight on the trials of learning disabilities for students, teachers, employees, and employers.
